Under Seamonkey 2.26 beta, when you attempt to delete a bookmark via the Bookmarks menu via right-click, nothing happens. Bookmarks can still be deleted via Bookmarks Manager or Bookmarks Sidebar.
This may be a WFM, as after restarting the program, everything worked as expected. There was another problem I was having that I was going to file a separate bug report for, which was that dragging-and-dropping (under either menu, sidebar, or manager) was moving bookmarks into random spots on the list. After I restarted Seamonkey to isolate this issue before reporting, both problems went away.
Actually both bugs do exist - the bugs activate just after modifying the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Something weird going on. First attempt; Customize... & moved the Bookmarks icon from Bookmarks Toolbar, up to the File menu bar, next to Help. At that point, opening the icon, or the Bookmarks menu item, the context-menu Delete was grayed out. Quit. Fired up (a two week old) 2.27a2 & saw that the context menu Delete was not grayed out, even after moving the icon around. (Didn't actually attempt a Delete though.) [That 2.27a2 is likewise affected.] Then fired 2.26beta backup up, & in it too the context menu Delete was not grayed out, though trying to delete a bookmark was ineffectual. Don't know if this has any bearing? Perhaps this is a DUP of Bug 730837 - (SM-livemarksIO) Port |Bug 613588 - Replace livemarks with asynchronous load-on-demand livemarks (was: Livemarks cause synchronous I/O during txul)| to SeaMonkey, code ?
Oops, that's marked as FIXED.
Screenshot. Delete option grayed out after having moved Bookmarks icon from Bookmarks Toolbar to the File menu bar. (SeaMonkey 2.24, btw, so looks like the issue has existed for at least a bit of time.)

Mine isn't grayed out, it just doesn't do anything. But yes, these strange things are happening after modifying/manipulating the Bookmarks Toolbar, and everything works once you restart the browser. My two problems: 1. Right-click->Delete has no effect 2. Dragging and dropping bookmarks puts them in random places in the list Maybe I should mention my setup: * Slackware Linux 14.1 64-bit (non-multilib) * Seamonkey 2.26 Beta 64-bit (Seamonkey FTP contrib build, not Slackware's release build) * Sandy-Bridge-based computer w/i7-2600K CPU * NVIDIA GeForce 660 Ti GPU
Should've probably given this bug a better title.
NOT reproducible with German Seamonkey 2.33.B1 Build 20150223174142 on German WIN7 64bit: 1. In Navigation-Toolbar click folder-icon for "Bookmarks" » Pulldown appears 2. Rightclick on a bookmark you want to delete » context menu appears 3. Click "Delete" As expected bookmark will be dropped. a) Linux-Related? @therube: with what OS die you confirm? @reporter: Still a problem for you

Initial test was WFM. But, then I went to Customize & changed Show: from Icons and Text to Icons. At that point you could no longer delete bookmark entries. Delete was not grayed out, but "deleting" entries was ineffectual. Same bug or new bug that ends in similar results, something odd still seems to be going on. I'm seeing... > Error: DEPRECATION WARNING: Passing a callback to Livermarks methods is deprecated. > Please use the returned promise instead. > ... > Source File: resource:///modules/Deprecated.jsm > Line: 79 and > Warning: Use of Mutation Events is deprecated. Use MutationObserver instead. > Source File: chrome://global/content/bindings/menulist.xml > Line: 240 should they happen to apply. Close browser & restart "fixes" things. But then if you go to Customize & changed Show: from Icons to Text and Icons, it manifests itself again - until you restart. (Actually, opening/deleting from a new Window suffices.)
> But, then I went to Customize & changed Show: from Icons and Text to Icons. > At that point you could no longer delete bookmark entries. Indeed, I can confirm a relation of the reported issue with customize actions. In a different profile I normally do not use with Modern Theme: 0. Deletion-Proceeding as per comment 9 worked fine then: 1. 'Rightlick empty ara in Menu toolbar ► Customize ► "Icons and Text" -> " Icons" ► close dialog 2. Rightclick on a bookmark you want to delete » context menu appears Bug: "Delete" Item is greyed out, will not work New test in my normal Profile: 0. Deletion-Proceeding as per comment 9 worked fine then: 11. 'Rightlick empty ara in Menu toolbar ► Customize ► "Icons and Text" -> " Icons" ► close dialog 12. Rightclick on a bookmark you want to delete » context menu appears, "Delete" item looks active 13. Click "Delete" Bug: does nothing, Bookmark remains 14. Repeate 11 and following in bookmarks Menu instead, same result, 'Delete' item looks active, but Bug: does nothing, Bookmark remains

Ran into this today in Firefox 52 (64bit, Linux). Accidentally bookmarked a page by mistyping ctrl-d. Clicked the bookmark icon to view the bookmarks, saw the new bookmark. Right clicked on it and got a menu in which Cut and Delete are grayed out. Tried to select Delete anyway, and it did nothing. None of the bookmarks can be deleted that way. The same bookmarks are duplicated in the Recently Bookmarked folder. From there, they can be deleted by right clicking and selecting Delete, which is active. That deletes both the entry in Recently Bookmarked and in the top level. Can also delete them through the Bookmarks side panel, accessed with ctrl-b,
