Reproduced in RC3. I downloaded the stub installer, and after choosing "Custom install", I got to the point where I should choose components to install. To my surprise, almost *all* components - including Chatzilla, DOM inspector, mailnews and whatnot - was *required*. What's going on!?
I've sighted this as well. However, in my install, Chatzilla and mailnews are not required, as I haven't installed them previously on this system.

Yes, I've seen this before. It seems that if you've installed them at one time, you can't uncheck them on subsequent install. This makes sense because there's a good chance that they won't work if you don't update them. Maybe there needs to be some way to uninstall as well.

This is a dupe of some UI bug. We have no way to uninstall individual components. You already have Chatzilla and if we let you upgrade Mozilla without upgrading existing components you would likely crash or hang. At the very least the existing components wouldn't work. (since chatzilla is all chrome it's possible it fails more gracefully than most--maybe we could remove the upgrade check for that one component. It'd still be broken, though.) The UI is an utter botch in that it doesn't tell you *why* you can't deselect those components. If you really don't want them you can go back a step and pick a fresh directory, or uninstall before installing. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 82450 ***
