I'd perhaps like to add that given that xp now comes with narrator as standard, It would be jolly useful if mozilla had a plugin(flite) or something that read the text and alt tags from a web page. note this does not need a screen reader, which serves a different function http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123485 http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101598 are related but different bugs unless flash is going to be the only player in the ball park this need sorting.

The plug-ins component isn't a good place for requests for new plug-ins. Let's try Accessibility APIs.

Narrator is now partially working with Mozilla nightlies! I've contacted the author to try determine what's wrong with the caret tracking. Once caret trackings works, you'll be able to read the web page using "Browse with caret" mode (F7).
current status?
@reporter Is this still needed or is carret(F7) is good work?
Since over 1 month no answer from the reporter, so closing bug as wfm. If you need a better way, then reopen this bug with more details.
