When selecting the Fonts preference panel, it shows the following error: XML Parsing error: undefined entity Location: chrome://browser/content/pref/pref-fonts.xul Line Number 313, Column 21: <caption label="&someProvColors;"/> --------------------^ The file seems to be mozilla/browser/components/prefwindow/content/pref-fonts.xul Is this a bug? Or it's just not finished yet?

Not finished yet. Massive destruction happening in prefs. We probably don't need any more bugs for these problems since it's still a demolition zone in prefs. Blake, this is all you, man. old summary was "fonts preference panel broken in Phoenix" new summary is "finish tearing prefs UI to pieces and then make it not suck" This bug can cover the work of the first pass where we get each of the prefs we want visible to be visible and working. Later we will accept individual bugs for broken or otherwise not correctly implemented prefs UI.

In addition to the proxy preference panel, there also needs to be a UI control for network.http.proxy.version (e.g. Use HTTP/1.0 for proxy connections (default = true)".

Preferences UI -> Connection -> Proxy Configuration A button to specify that a specified proxy should be used for all protocols would make the task of proxy configuration more user friendly. This feature exists in IE.

I don't know, if there is a bug filed for this - I couldn't find one - but the 'Enable Images/for the originating web site only' check box in Preferences/Advanced/Images doesn't work.

Has anyone else experienced not being able to check/uncheck the two sub-options under "Enable cookies" in the Privacy panel? This was on Linux (Mandrake 9.0, specifically). I can click there, and they blink gray, but immediately revert to unchecked state. It's been like this since version 0.2. This also occurs with the option beneath "Enable images" in the Images panel under Advanced.

A ui pref to disable favicons. They waste bandwidth, add to bloat, and distract the eye. They can currently be disabled with user.js. Choosing to start a new window on a blank page should not display "ahout:blank." That text can be deleted from the pref menu, but it shouldn't be there anyway. Zennify that blankness, baby. There's nothing to say about it. Oh, and perhaps this is a separate issue, but if I load a new tab and the url bar is truly blank, but then I switch tabs, when I come back to the blank tab it will say "about:blank" in the url field. Disable link prefetching. If it's on by default (as it seems to be) add a ui for it. Imagine somebody on a discussion board prefetching god knows what obscenity or huge trollsom file--I'll spare you the link to the slashdot comment, but it has been done. Allow memory size to be set in ui. 4096 ought to be enough for any one, but I get better performance with huge memory and small cache. And because you can't implement a ui for every pref, clean up about:config . There are for instance mail prefs that have nothing to do with Phoenix.

Shawn, this is not the place to voice advocacy about what prefs you think should be set to what defaults and which ones you think should be exposed in UI. Please keep your "me too" and advocacy comments out of Bugzilla. A more appropriate forum would be the Phoenix forums at mozillaZine.org. If you're not helping with technical issues in fixing a bug then your comments don't belong in Bugzilla. THanks.

I downloaded the latest nightly (12 Nov 2002) and checked out the Preferences Dialog. I can't check the "Advanced->Images->General->Enable Images-> For the originating website only" checkbox with my mouse. Comment #16 reports the same problem.

I'm not sure whether it would be more obnoxious for me to reopen this myself, or to drop a metoo comment in it. And I'm running Phoenix on Solaris 7/GCC 2.95.3, which is not among the "real" platforms people seem to be discussing for Phoenix. That said, I can confirm comment #16 and comment #33 as of 20021112. The image pref may not be strictly a UI issue. Even when set in user.js (and confirmed in about:config), offsite images are loaded. For example: http://story.news.yahoo.com/fc?cid=34&tmpl=fc&in=World&cat=Iraq The image at the upper right and the adds are all from other domains, but they are being loaded. The checkbox in the UI is now apparently permanently selected.

Why is this marked RESOLVED FIXED? This bug -- at least the part where the "Enable Images For The Originating Website Only" checkbox is permanently unchecked in the Win9x version -- still existed as of the last nightly binary. Is the bug "fixed" as in "made permanent", or am I confused?

The white box that contains the the icons in the Options window (General, Privacy, etc.) is 1 pixel too short. When the bottom section, Connection, is active, it has 1 pixel of white padding around it on the right and left, but is flush with the bottom of the box. It should have 1 pixel of white padding at the bottom as well (see attached screenshot).

Have anyone noticed the following description under Options->Privacy->Download Manager History? "The Download Manager keeps track of recently downloaded files. XXXben-blake, we need at the very least a toggle here, probably a retention window as well." I am sure this wasn't supposed to be there and could have been missed during the overhaul. I'm using: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030708 Mozilla Firebird/0.6 An Attachment (jpg file) indicates the problem I've mentioned.

The XXXben thing in the options dialog is bug 204134. See also bug 205276 for the feature that needs to be added.
