the current version of libmng is out of date this causes several of the immages
in the libmng test suite (see link) to fail. to fix this problem you should
update to the latest version of libmng.

this has been found to be a duplicate bug of 44866. the problem is the same and
i have posted the solution to that group. i will now mark this bug as a duplicate.

I don't think this is related to bug 44866. That bug is about ICC profiles,
which at least didn't used to be implemented in libmng but relied on an external
library not shipped with mozilla. Has that changed in later versions of libmng?

Actually you are right! The old lib lacks support for many png features but i'm 
not sure if this is related. However none of the following types of png immages 
work correctly and a few cause mozilla to crash:
Test MNG BACK image&tile functions
 
Test MNG promote functions (1)
 
Test MNG promote functions (2)
 
Test MNG promote functions (3)
 
Test MNG promote functions (4)
 
Test delta-images on gray target
 
Test delta-images on gray+alpha target
 
Test delta-images on RGB target

Tested in my tree - waiting for feedback on a couple minor libmng changes
before checking in.

summary is wrong, mozilla's currently used libmng is 1.0.3 according to
http://lxr.mozilla.org/seamonkey/source/modules/libimg/mng
