Details
I have two accounts set up. First is my company account, using default composition as HTML and is set as default account. Second account is personal, default composition is plain text. Consider I wish to send a mail by clicking a mailto link on web page. This opens up a new mail window where "From:" field indicates I am using default account (company account). But since this is my personal mail I wish to use seconday account and change it in the 'From' field. But this doesn't change my composition format from HTML to plain text which is supposed to be account specific.

This can't happen until it's possible to switch from the plain text editor to the HTML composer. See bug 216132 comment 1 (thunderbird).

I figured I should put this here, if this should be its own bug let me know. In Shredder/Thunderbird 3.0a3 when I change the message type in "Options > Format" from plain text to HTML or vice versa, the message type does seem to change as expected but the font doesn't change - In other words, to get plain text with the plain text font I have to select "Fixed width" in HTML mode before I change the message format from the Options menu.
Extending summary per suggestion in bug 491371 for better searchability.
Summary: Changing mail account (from) should change composition format → Changing mail account (from) should change HTML/plain-text composition format

Given that bug 491371 has been marked a duplicate of this bug, I believe it is impossible to argue that this is an 'enhancement' and not a 'bug'. The current state is that either: 1) I cannot set my primary identity to not use HTML by default. 2) OR I cannot compose HTML messages with any identity. Please could we promote to bug. This would also improve searchability - in looking for this bug I certainly was not going to look at the many greyed-out 'enhancement' tickets.
