Sorry, I posted this already in the support Forum for Thunderbird, but so far no answer from anyone. Post: "When printing from Thunderbird I do not get Thai characters, neither on the preview for the printing nor on the paper. I changed the encoding in the preview-window to Thai, but when I open the email in own window it is back to something nowone can read. If I change the encoding in the open email to Thai, and than click print, nothing is happening. Also show preview for print does not show the preview window in the open email What to do?" If it helps anything, I can forward a mail in Thai language to you for testing. Bye and lots of thanks for the help in advance. Ernst

I heard now from other users, that they are able to print Thai characters with Thunderbird. So far I could not find out, what OS they are using. Here the details of mine. Windows XP Home Edition (German Version) with SP 2

Have you enabled complex script support? In non-South/non-Southeast Asian
Windows 2k/XP, that feature is disabled by default and you have to turn it on
explicitly. Not sitting in front of Windowx XP, I can't tell you how to do that.
This may not be the cause of the problem, but we'd better be on the same page
before blaming TB.

Not sitting in front of Windowx XP, I can't tell you how to do that. Control Panel | Regional and Language Options In the Languages tab, click "Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)". After doing that you may have to go back to font preferences in Thunderbird and reset the fonts for Thai.

WFM on Mozilla trunk on Win2k. I don't think TB behaves any differently. I sent myself two emails in TIS 620 and UTF-8 (the former in text/plain and the latter in text/html). Both just got printed fine. Print preview also works fine. Can you forward your Thai message to me? Still better, can you attach it here (after editing out some private stuff if there's any)? If it's TIS620/Windows874 or UTF-8 and labeled as such, you don't have to tinker with the encoding. The fact that you had to may have to do with your problem.

This is what Ernst sent me. Its MIME header declare that it's in Windows-1252 ( text/html), but in the message body, there's a meta tag that reads <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html;charset=windows-874"><html> <div style='background-color:'><P><BR><BR></P>' It's indeed in Windows-874 (a superset of TIS620) I'm back on Linux (I was on Win2k) so that I haven't tested it on Windows, but p rint preview of standard-compliant Thai messages (I sent myself) works fine. How ever, Ernst's message does have a trouble. 'View|Encoding' override doesn't have any effect when printing or previewing-print. So in print/print-preview, the message is treated as 'Windows-1252'. Probably, this is a dupe of another bug.
