Entered in www.firstbank.com in the browser box. After that, I entered in
www.firstusa.com in the URL box. I started clicking on links on the web page,
and noticed that the URL in the box didn't change. Then, I went to the bookmarks
sidebar and started clicking on different bookmarks. The browser went to these
pages, but the URL in the address box stayed as www.firstusa.com.
Please always include the build ID you're testing in a bug report.
It appears that this is an issue only after switching themes. Did you change
themes before seeing this? Can you reproduce?
Thank you,
Fabian.
what does "Entered in www.firstbank.com in the browser box" mean?
Sorry for not putting in the build. This was the 11-30-00 nightly build. And
yes, I had changed the themes 2 or 3 times. It seems only to happen when themes
are changed.

For asa@mozilla.org : "Entered in www.firstbank.com in the browser box" I mean
I typed that address in the URL box. Sorry 'bout that.

bigdal@neo.rr.com, thanks for the followup.

Fabian, do you know if this is already reported? I couldn't find it.
Asa : yes, this is bug 61916 and bug 61796 . I don't know what to do with them.
I propose we confirm this one and update the summaries of all three bugs. This
one should be kept for tracking this bug : url location not updating after theme
change. The other two bugs contain other issues.
So this is up to you Asa, it would be nice to have a real bug (like this one) to
which we can duplicate the other ones.
Thank you,
Fabian.
Summary: URL box not following the addresses after clicking on links → URL box not updating after theme switch
OK Fabian. I agree. will you do the dirty work.

Setting bug status to New.
Setting bug status to new for real, over to skinability, this bug is now the
reference about this issue (url location box not updating after theme switch).
Thanks,
Fabian.

confirming with 2000121204 win95 mtrunk.

as noted in 62434, multiple open browser windows all see url bar failure on skin
change, and opening new browser windows after skin change returns normal
functionality.

maybe a "skin change" meta-bug?
i see this on linux, winnt and mac os 9.0 with bits from today and y'day.

With the patch for bug 60151 I still see this on linux.

I suspect this is an uninitialized var / race condition type of bug, since most
of the times it fails to update the uri field after a theme switch, but it
worked (at least) once.

moving out to mozilla1.0 since Nav team is not going to work on the theme
switching bugs till after mozilla0.9.3.
Target Milestone: mozilla0.9.3 → mozilla1.0
I see this with the Classic skin, and I don't switch skins - I start in classic,
I stay in classic. This seems to have crept in fairly recently, as I didn't see
this behavior in 0.9.0.
well then you're seeing a different bug, seeing how this one has to do with
switching skins, which you don't do.

More realistic milestone since dynamic theme switches are not being supported.
Target Milestone: mozilla1.0 → Future
