Hi, John:

Would you please work with UE group to come up with a spec for the Mail Account
Setup in CCK? Feel free to open this bug for non-NSCP people or migrate it to
bugscape (it is down now).

thx

Reassigning to German. Can you or someone in your team help? It is very simple
- just a new screen for what is essentially a wizard, but it is important we do
it right - Tao has the spec.

Don't worry gang, this is not confidential. Open is good.
Jennifer is our mailnews UI csaress. Re-assigning to her.

Please note that this is not in Messenger client's Account Setup Wizard. It is in
CCK6.
Summary: Need UI spec for MailNews account setup → Need UI spec for MailNews account setup screen in CCK

Screen shot below. I tried to match the style of the CCK 6.0 Wizard and cover
the requirements specified in the CCK 6.5 PRD. Please let me know if any changes
are needed.

Would recommend inserting this screen after the last Browser setup screen.

Please assign to the correct engineer.
Hi, Jen:

Looks good. Thanks of the quick action. Adding bobj and kristif for comments.
What about port #s for Incoming Mail Servers? This might be important to
ISPs, etc.

What about SSL options (Never, When Available, Always) for SMTP servers? I
have no feel on how important this is for CCK.
Screenshot was based on johng's prd:

Mail Settings
IN:
-server type (POP or IMAP)
-if POP, then offer a checkbox option: Leave messages on serverincoming mail
-server name (e.g. mail.netscape.com)
-sent mail server name (e.g. smtp.netscape.com)

OUT:
newsgroup server (we had it in CCK 4.x, but no one uses it, unless maybe
enterprises)IMAP (again, had it in CCK 4.x, but no one except enterprises use
it)

Back to johng for decision.

Shruti sent email of a list of other values needed by CCK to setup the mail
server settings:
> List of mail account data we want ISP to fill out in addition to the
> server name and server type:
> 1. Domain name of ISP (e.g. isp.com).
> 2. Pretty name for ISP's mail account which appears in Netscape 6.5 inbox.
> 3. Wizard long name for ISP's mail account in the N6.5's new account
> setup Wizard. A show example screen button an also be included for
> this.

Additionally move from OUT to IN:
     newsgroup server

We have received input that makes us believe that news may be used more
frequently by ISPs that we previously believed
Hi, Jen:
A rough copy of the UI with additional fields for the CCK Mail account setup is
attached. Based on this, if you could come up with a neat UI.
How's this? Kept the wording to minimum to save space and since the "Examples"
will give additional info if needed.
Looks good. Thanks for the quick update. But, I believe we will need a show
example screen for each field in the mail account.
You can add "Show Example" to each field if you like (may look cluttered), or
just show a summary example for the Mail settings all together. :-)
exit looks a bit out of place ...

I'm guessing CCK doesn't allow for subscribed mail folders or newsgroups?

Perhaps a show example toolbar style button [click once to depress+make
functionality active; click again to release and hide functionality] that
filled empty fields w/ green examples. Clicking into the field would clear the
example, and typed text would appear black.

The dialog looks too wide...
JohnG and JGlick, Can we close this bug?

I retract my question. Shruti will the issues we need to resolve post-Beta.
Whiteboard: nscck1b
We will need to come up with a different UI for CCK mail/news settings for
post-Beta. This is dependent on Bug 65715.
Added dependency on bug 65715.
Depends on: 65715
The last screen shot UI that Jennifer submitted looks good to me. Go for it for
beta.

My only concern to discuss for rtm is whether the distributor will understand
the difference between the "Pretty Name" and the "Long Name". Perhaps the Show
Example button will solve that problem, but I think the UI is good as it is now,
at least for beta.

As for our dependency on bug 65715, I can't remember if we added to the must
have list the ability to create multiple email addresses with CCK or just use
the manual customizations for more than one account. That will determine if we
really do have a dependency on that bug or not.

This bug is done for beta, but not done for RTM. To be clear in the bug system,
changing title from "Need UI spec for MailNews account setup screen in CCK" to
"Update UI spec for MailNews account setup screen for rtm" and reassigning it to
Jennifer.

The "Leave Messages on the Server" checkbox is always available, but it
is only meaningful for POP(not IMAP). Maybe we need a radio selection
(instead of the current dropdown) for POP v. IMAP and a check box next to
the POP radio choice?

   (o) POP [ ] Leave messages on the POP server
   ( ) IMAP

   (o) POP
[ ] Leave messages on server
   ( ) IMAP
is the way we've done other similar things.
