"Call being processed" is an indication that the call has been triggered by the client but does not inform the user that the other party is being notified.
An other notification will inform the user that the other party is being notified - "call ringing" addressed on bug 1015077
As far as wording for the UI, maybe "Connecting..." or "Calling..." is a phrase that people are already used to seeing in this sort of context?

Yes, as per Darrin's UX, "Connecting..." is the right wording.

This is required when clicking a call-back link on Firefox or when initiating a direct call from the desktop UI.

AFAIK there's no bugs yet for opening links in the conversation window in Firefox. We just use the standalone client.

Therefore, I don't think this applies at the moment, or this is bug 1000237.

We don't do that currently, and won't do it until after 34.

Hence, do we still need this bug in 34, or am I missing something with respect to receiving a call in the desktop client, possibly showing this whilst we're connecting the media?

Agreed this is FF35, just changed the target milestone.
This meta bug covers "clicking links with the desktop client" - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1019458 and this is coming for FF35.
