Mozilla does not have support for external mail programs nor html editors. It
is assumed that Mozilla Mail and Mozilla Composer will be used versus another
third party software.

Mozilla should have a configuration option in Preferences similar to Internet
Explorer's "Programs" tab in Internet properties. This would allow someone to
use Mozilla as their browser, while using another email application (such as
Outlook Express [Windows], Evolution [Linux], etc.)
resolving as dup of general RFE bug 13474. There's some discussion there whether
an external mail app should be a separate RFE.

vrfy dupe -- bugs about multiple issues are often dupes of multiple bugs. fwiw
if you don't install mailnews on windows you should be able to use whatever
mail client you like (for mailto/news/...)
