Hey Chris! The "make a gallery" functionality you showed at all hands would be really useful and valuable for me because I'm regularly asked for things that I organize via email bullet points. I've tried organizing with my current profile, but it's impossible because I make too much stuff. Galleries seemed like something amazing.
Getting that in alpha and giving my users (laura and mozteach) access would let me test while also filling a need I have to send certain groups certain things.
Can I get me some access?

You certainly can!
We still need to deploy the Gallery Maker app, but I'll make sure that it happens very soon. I will update you with where to find it when it's ready to go.

Alright, so we've got https://gallery.mofostaging.net and https://gallery.webmaker.org up and running.
You can use the webmaker.org version safely.
Let me know of any issues that come up!

Hrm. Sorry for the late response, didn't NEED this yet, and then was on PTO.
On mofostaging the search doesn't seem to work (I typed in one of the title words that showed up in the dummy makes and hit enter, all makes disappeared, including the one that should have been "found")
And there seems to be nothing at https://gallery.webmaker.org
We were planning to use this to "storify" a path through resources on the topics of DRM and Net Neutrality for the training coming up end of July.

The search box is pretty limited as of right now, and only searches via tags

Due to a lack of design review, we had to move the prod version to https://gallery.webmakerprototypes.org - because of the domain name difference, you'll have to log in separately from webmaker.org domains. It's still using the production Make API though.

We should identify and ticket the most important bugs blocking the gallery maker from being used as a tool for that, adding them as blockers here. We'll need to whiteboard them as well: [gallerymaker][july25] perhaps?

:cade, can we not use webmaker connect though for login till its ready for prod?

huh. Ok I can't use this at all. I go to gallery.webmakerprototypes.org and log in. It says "logging in", looks like the persona has gone through but the "login" button remains at the top (it doesn't show me I'm logged in). Then I click Create New list and fill out a title and description. No list appears.
On mofostaging, I can log in and write a title and description and the list is saved, but I can't search for anything (including tags. I tried both with and without the "#" symbol). It appears there are just 10 "dummy" makes.

Looks like there was a configuration setting missing on production. I've updated it, so the webmakerprototypes.org version should be able to log in now.
The mofostaging version is using the staging Makeapi, not the production one, so it will only be able to pull in the test makes saved on makeapi.mofostaging.net

also, The search tool is very basic. I don't think it will show more than ten makes right now.

the log in works until I enter a title, then the login kicks me out and I can't make a list (i see the login button switching when I hit "enter" after putting in a title, if I go through the description and everything, it doesn't save, and no list exists.
Let me know if I should be making a screencast or something :)

Ah, I see the bug, the CSRF protection isn't working correctly... I'll look into it and see if I can fix it.

Okay, I fixed everything up! The move from webmaker.org to webmakerprototypes.org broke more than a few things, but it should be working now!

yep, it seems to be working. The layout on the resulting gallery is kind of crazy though:
https://gallery.webmakerprototypes.org/view/53cd12d822cbfade6f0000c9
and without the admin to the makeapi editor, it's not possible to curate a really *good* list. We should think about fast following with upgrades to the search ;)

I agree, The gallery display and searching are probably the two parts that really need upgrades.
I've filed bug 1041557 and bug 1041561 to address this

I'm wondering what constitutes this issue being completed, or what needs to be met before this Friday to close this guy down.
