Worksforme on WinNT4 with build 2001092503. Something in one of the Linux
plugins?

Looking at the source, the only thing I can see that might want a plugin is
the MIDI background sound.

wfm using build 2001092703 with Quicktime 5.0.2 playing the midi tune.

Reporter, can you try without the Plugger plug-in ? It's obviously trying to
read the .mid file and crash.
Can you also try a recent talkback-enabled build available at:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-sea.tar.gz

The Plugger plug-in might not be compatible with Mozilla, perhaps there's a
newer version too ?
I've removed plugger plugin and it's ok now. Should I close this now?

Perhaps, try Plugger 3.3 which is supposed to work with Netscape 6.0 and Mozilla
0.8. Then report if it works better:

From release notes in v.3.3:
* Included some patches to maybe allow plugger to work with Netscape 6. (Some
reports also state that plugger may work with Mozilla 0.8)

URL: http://fredrik.hubbe.net/plugger.html
It should not be marked INVALID.
There're 40 plugger-related bug reports, notably bug 60844, bug 85542, bug 88650.

Reporter, if it still crashes with v.3.3, report the Talkback ID and perhaps
it'll be a dup of above bugs.

I already have plugger 3.3

I've got mozilla 0.9.4 release with talkback enabled for linux.
After installing I've copied /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins in /usr/local/mozilla/plugins

Started mozilla in a terminal, it crashed on that site, but didn't got any
talkback dialog (perhaps I should remove first ~/.mozilla ?

here's the output from terminal, the problem it's quite clear:

comment, I don't want to lose the text I've entered so far)

reporter: if you create /dev/sequencer - does the bug still happen?

This will create various sound devices. I wonder if you have an uncomplete
installation of Linux there.

If you merely want to testrun MAKEDEV and compare to the devices you actually
already have, without actually creating devices:

still crashes after this on mozilla-0.9.5-0
Reporter: Can you download an installer build - they are talkback enabled.
Once the talkback dialog appears and prompts to fill out various data, make sure
to un-minimize the talkback window - that way you'll see the talkback ID. Make a
note of it and please add here.
I've downloaded
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla0.9.6/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-0.9.6-sea.tar.gz
(x86 Talkback enabled Full Installer)
also got plugger 4.0

that URL doesn't crash mozilla anymore, but it doesn't play
anything.

Got another one which crashes
http://www.ElectronicPostcards.com/cgi-bin/tgc/pickup.pl?ticket=1008436472.833
console output:
Gdk-ERROR **: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
  serial 17 error_code 2 request_code 12 minor_code 0

It doesn't ask me any dialog after crash.
Looked in help (there's no Talkback on index) and on the site,
don't know what to do to activate that talkback.

Please provide instructions
None of the sites crash with a current CVS, Linux
(RealPlayer8, Shockwave Flash 5.0 r47, Shockwave for Director 8.5, Quicktime
5.0.2, JRE 1.3.1-b24)

Plugins display fine, some music is played on both the mentioned sites.
You may be seeing one of the many "plugger" related crashes.

Regarding Talkback:
Talkback will spawn automatically in most cases, but on the odd occation it
doesn't trigger, which seems to be the case here.

0.9.6 was old when you downloaded it, 0.9.7 was released only hours later.
You may want to try that as well.
it still crashes with mozilla 0.9.7 and plugger 4.0

it's plugger's fault; R.K.Aa told me
>You're right - I don't use plugger but it's Quicktime doing the sound stunts
for >me, not realplayer:
I think you misunderstood: I never said it's a bug in the plugger plugin.
There are several other bugs in bugzilla.mozilla.org where plugger is involved
in crashes. Again: This does not mean it's a bug in plugger as such.
this may be a dup of bug 85542 or more likely: bug 74080

Fredrik Hubinette, author of plugger, told me
>Try it with netscape 4.7x, if that works the bug is most likely in
>Mozilla. If that does not work, the bug is most likely in plugger.

It doesn't crash netscape 4.7x (complains about missing instruments, but it works)
