The PDF deck has a mock showing a card with 'nearby' a restaurant. What if we were slightly less specific and had a card for 'Nearby events' and 'Nearby attractions' and 'Nearby restaurants'. Tapping on any of them would jump to a search displaying more detailed cards.
I think we should have each of these types of 'nearby' starter cards. The user can hide the ones they are not interested in, but each has some value.
Parity: I notice the Google Now has 'View nearby events' for example.

This is interesting, Mark. 'Nearby restaurants' could be extremely useful if we cross reference this location data with some form of the user's search history.
Speaking particularly to 'Nearby events', I did consider this originally but I had concerns about the amount of value it would actually provide to the user (when considering the sources we'd have to get this info from). Especially from an MVP point of view we'd have to make this extra useful to both prove it's value, and avoid coming across as spam.
I think it's still worth exploring so I'll revisit this. Particularly interested in the 'Nearby attractions' as we can leverage Wikipedia for some of that information.
