Steps to reproduce:

1. Open the Developer Tools
2. Write JavaScript to console.log an element on the page.
3. In the Console tab, to the right of the element's HTML that was logged, hover over the icon that has the popup "Click to select the node in the inspector"
4. Move the mouse around sporadically.


Actual results:

The highlight for the element will not go away (even though the icon had not been clicked)


Expected results:

The highlight should go away because I did not click the icon.  There is no consistent way to remove the element highlight without closing the Developer Tools.

I managed to reproduce it, but I propose slightly different steps:
3. In the Console tab, to the LEFT of the element's HTML that was logged, hover over the TAGNAME (or the step 3 from original STR)
4. Quickly move the mouse to the left

I'll mark this as NEW once I get the access.
