Setting layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled to false makes the animation smoother. My graphic card is: Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset.

What about leaving OMTC enabled, but setting gfx.direct2d.disable to true?
(In reply to Milan Sreckovic [:milan] from comment #2) > What about leaving OMTC enabled, but setting gfx.direct2d.disable to true? With direct2d disabled it's better. But disabling OMTC makes a far more meaningful difference. During the animation (and also panning or zooming), Firefox uses 100% of one core. (In reply to Milan Sreckovic [:milan] from comment #3) > Up to date drivers? Yes.
Anything webgl-related is going to be slow as long as bug 1000640 isn't landed.
Depends on: 1000640
(In reply to Nicolas Silva [:nical] from comment #5) > Anything webgl-related is going to be slow as long as bug 1000640 isn't > landed. Shouldn't bug 1000640 block enabling OMTC by default then? (at least with these poor graphic cards) Google Maps is nearly unusable.
Summary: Animations in the new version of Google Maps are really slow → Animations, zooming and panning in the new version of Google Maps are really slow
(In reply to Marco Castelluccio [:marco] from comment #7) > Shouldn't bug 1000640 block enabling OMTC by default then? (at least with > these poor graphic cards) > Google Maps is nearly unusable. It's pretty unusable for me too, I really hope we don't intend on shipping omtc on release without that bug landing...

Bug 1000640 has been fixed, and OMTC has been disabled for 32. I'm going to close this assuming that it's no longer an issue, but please reopen if necessary.
