Build Used: 20011001 Step to reproduce: 1. With mozilla/netscape NOT running, launch MS-Word (or MS-Excel). 2. Select "File|Sent To|Mail Recipient..." from the file menu. 3. The mozilla User Profile dialog pop up, click on the "Exit" button Result: It take more than one minute (about 75 seconds) to exit the mozilla dialog. For MS-Word, I got an additional error message at the end: "Logon failed. You must log on to Microsoft Exchange to access your address book. Error code: Unspecified error." I have a Pentium III 550 Mhz machine with 512MB of RAM running WINNT 4 Workstation with SP 6a

Jay, can you reproduce? I dont' believe this still happens
On MacOSX 10.6.2 with Office 2008, I do not even get a "Send to..." option. Evidently Excel doesn't recognize Thunderbird as the Default Mail Client as other Mac applications do. Unable to reproduce I'm afraid.
(In reply to comment #8) > On MacOSX 10.6.2 with Office 2008, I do not even get a "Send to..." option. Should have been clearer, I get the "Send to..." menu item, but the two sub-menu items "Email recipient" are both grayed out so I cannot select them. I tried with Thunderbird closed and running, but options were always grayed out.
That seems Windows specific. Dunno what else to try on the Mac to get it working. Bug 309708 seems to be the Mac problem. Did try this without going into Excel through the Services menu of Finder, unfortunately that is Bug 412292 which brings up Mail.app instead of Thunderbird. So, no real way for me to test this.
I cant get it on vista either - it keeps insisting on starting outlook

I was able to reproduce using openoffice on Win7. When clicking exit the thunderbird.exe process exits immediately and I suspect this bug could be fixed by Thunderbird's MAPI returning success or some such thing when exit is clicked the profile manager ui. We had to do something along these lines for DDE in Firefox / SeaMonkey. Not sure who would be most appropriate from the Thunderbird devs to look at this.
