User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20140610 Firefox/24.0 PaleMoon/24.6.2 (Nightly/Aurora)
Build ID: 20140610122704
Steps to reproduce:
Save attachments from an email that are in jpg format and rar format
Open the Tools -> Saved Files window
Actual results:
Only the jpg attachments are shown
Expected results:
All saved files should be shown
Version is 24.6.0. But tracker lists numbers through Version 33, I don't know what that means

I am seeing this problem too.
Attachments with Content-Type: application/octet-stream are not displayed
I suspect that other types & extensions not listed in Options->Attachments->Incoming are not displayed either.
I cannot see how to add other file types.
(Using version 38.1.0)

Adding an application/octet-stream handler to mimeTypes.rdf does not help.

Jon or Trevor, can you pls assist us by attaching to this bug a "real" rar file for testing purposes. It must be real rar-file, not just renamed extension. When you've done that, needinfo me using the checkbox below comment input box.

This is an example file of a kind that I often receive.
It is a binary file with a proprietary format that is unlikely to be mistaken for another format.

Sorry Trevor for coming back to this late...
STR
1) Send msg with attachment like attachment 8644270 [details] with "special" file extension (e.g. "rar", "gen", etc.; not common extension like "jpg"). Probably Ctrl+Shift+Enter to send to your own outbox suffices (untested).
Let's say your file is named "test.gen"
2) Save attachment using [Save] button on attachments header bar (probably any method will do, but untested).
3) Look at Saved Files tab (Ctrl+J)
Actual result
Saved file ("test.gen") not seen on saved files list
Expected result
Saved file ("test.gen") should be listed on saved files list.
(I couldn't think of a reason why not, even if it is an .exe file, we won't stop the user from acting on that even if it's not on the list - or maybe we would? - btw, do we allow double-click to open .exe files?)

Yup. I tested by sending myself four files: a PNG, a JPG, a ZIP, and a RAR. The PNG, JPG, and ZIP shows up in Tools > Saved Files. The RAR is not present in the list.
