User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140716183446 Steps to reproduce: Installed TB31 (upgrade from 24.6.0). Ran TB as usual. Run TB - move the mouse in circles - problem shows. Do a GET MESSAGES - problem worsens permanently. Quit TB - problem goes away. Actual results: Mouse becomes sluggish, especially noticeable after doing GET MESSAGES. Windows Task Manager shows 5% to 7%, Norton NIS Performance shows 6% -- even when TB is idle. (Mouse is USB) Expected results: TB should have no visible effect on operation of the mouse (or any other device). Windows Task Manager never showed a percentage above zero except in rare instances, likely fetching something, and TB rarely showed in Norton NIS Performance window.
Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode Does problem go away?

This is embarrassing... I was going to restart WIN/SAFE as you suggest, but as usual I did a Norton update prior to shutdown. It failed, twice, and the log shows it had been doing so since 3 am here. I rebooted (normally) to resolve the Norton issue first, which it did, again a usual occurrence. So then I launched TB -- and no mouse hesitation. Ran GET MSGS (ALL) several times, nothing noticeable at all on the mouse. Then I launched MS WORD and Google Chrome (sorry, my alternate screen browser for testing) which had been open concurrently before too. Again, no mouse delays. Wayne, you're a genius! I should have thought to reboot before reporting the bugs. Turns out it may have been a Norton issue. (Our laptop has a BT mouse, and has no hesitation issues.) Sorry about this.

no problem - I also need a reminder from time to time. You might contact norton to tell them about their problem.
