Steps to reproduce:

Tried to open a link in a page with many links with Settings>Display>Scroll title bar CHECKED


Actual results:

The opened link is not the link I tried to click but a link ~20 px above.




Expected results:

It should have opened the link I clicked.

I then unchecked "Settings>Display>Scroll title bar" and the problem became less evident (maybe it disappeared, but I am not able to tell exactly). Whenever I check that setting the problem appears.

Moreover, I want to specify that it's not like I wrong, because it has never happened before, and with that setting the problem is almost solved.
Also, it's not that firefox has trouble understanding what I meant to click because it seems more like there is an offset in the y coordinate of the click. I suppose that it could be the height of the title bar itself, that somehow shifts the y-coord of the touch event (but that's just my supposition)

Do you have example test-page in which you saw this that you could provide here? Or better yet, a minimal test-case that you could attach to this bug?

Also, which device, version of Android and which version of Android are you using?

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini with CyanogenMod ( by novafusion.pl ) which I have been using for months.
Android is kitkat.

Test cases:
with Settings>Display>Scroll title bar CHECKED
every webpage that contains links or stuff you must click. As an extreme case, going to the mobile google.com (the most simple website I could think of). If I go there, in order to enter the text input, I can't touch the text input itself, but must click some pixels under it. Again, this happens on every webpage, but just for the sake of elencation, amongst the others: duckduckgo, wikipedia, theguardian...

Disabling (unchecking) [Settings>Display>Scroll title bar] solve this (but this isn't actually a solution, seems more like a "hack"...)
Again, I want to specify that I have used an old version of Aurora (which didn't have this problem at all) until two days ago. Now I am always running the newest release of Aurora and have this bug. Because of this, I can't state exactly (I have no clue) in which Aurora version this bug appeared.

I am really willing to help, please tell me if I have to try different settings or something...
I am also going to try different combination of setting try to figure out / isolate the actual setting which cause the problem, ok?

Also, I discovered that also with the internal webpages of Aurora (like about:addons) the bug is noticeable (always with Settings>Display>Scroll title bar CHECKED)

Aaron, can you repro this?

I don't see this on my Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2 and the latest Aurora. If I go to google.com and tap on the input bar it gets focus right away. I haven't seen it on any other pages either.

mureulor, the "old version" of Aurora that you were using - do you have a rough idea of how old it was? If you install Firefox Beta for android, do you see the problem there? How about if you install nightly? You can get these from beta.mozilla.org and nightly.mozilla.org, respectively. Installing these will use a separate profile and will not interfere with your Aurora install so you don't need to worry about losing your data.

I have no clue, sorry, because I allowed updates only over wifi and I didn't have wifi at home, but I sometimes went to places which had wifi, but I can't say either when it was or if aurora got autoupdated.

The same as Aurora. This is really worring me, because I'm starting to wonder if it is possible that it's maybe a problem with my ROM...

Anyways I made a new "discovery".
The bug arises when Settings>Display>Scroll title bar is CHECKED, but ONLY if the titlebar is visible at that moment! I did this with Nightly Aurora and Beta:
1) Settings>Display>Scroll title bar unchecked: Everything's fine, with all three.
2) Settings>Display>Scroll title bar unchecked and hidden titlebar: Everything's fine, with all three.
3) Settings>Display>Scroll title bar unchecked and titlebar visible: Bug present, with all three.


Now. Is it even remotely possible that my ROM is causing this bad behaviour (and FF is ok, as you can't reproduce it)? If so, I think I should perform a factory reset and try again; and after that I should even try with stock ROM, I suppose. Not that I am really confortable with that... So please tell me it can't be the ROM ;)

Meanwhile I look if I can find an older aurora apk in my download folder, install it, try with that. I am SURE that I used [Scroll title bar] for months until like three days ago, something like that!

It does seem that way...

I'm still not able to reproduce this behavior. I tried all combinations of checking and unchecking that box with the titlebar hidden and visible.

In general it's pretty unlikely to be caused by the ROM but I don't know what else it could be at this point. I understand your reluctance to do a factory reset. If the Multirom manager app works for you then you might be able to dual-boot your phone with Cyanogen and the stock ROM to try it out. Beyond that I can't really help much, sorry.

Neither I. Tried this on my Nexus 5 (4.4.4), Nightly (08/01). This WFM.
