User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.9; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140716183446 Steps to reproduce: Browse to any page, click on any link. If loaded try to use the two finger horizontal swipe from right to left. This especially occures on pages that are too "big" for the screen and thus have a horizontal scroller. Actual results: Nothing. Expected results: A history back should be performed and you should get back to the original page.

Actually, I'm not sure I'm seeing the same thing. Are you saying that there is no animation? Or does it actually not go back to the previous page? Could you reference the specific page where this reproduces for you?

On this page for example it works, but that is one of the few. It works less than it works actually. https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=5FjmU4GzLYSD-waYjIHQAg&gws_rd=ssl#q=firefox&start=0 This is a page it does not work. Go to page two and try to swipe to get back to page one. I don't refer to an animation that is not working, it actually does not go back to the previous page. CMD+"left arrow" works on this page for me.

Btw. I tried in safemode too.

Go to page two and try to swipe to get back > to page one. This works for me, I can successfully go back to page one by just swiping. Is there anything else about your setup or addons that might be causing this? Also, did this just start happening in FF 31 or has this always happened for you? If it just started, it would be great if you could run mozregression[1] and tell us in what build the issue started happening. [1] http://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/
Now I got it sorted out in parts! Go to System Preferences -> Trackpad -> More Gestures Select "Swipe between pages" -> "Scroll left or right with two fingers". Go to any page, go to another page by clicking a link and swipe with two fingers from LEFT TO RIGHT! Now it goes back. Swipe from RIGHT TO LEFT to go forward. Go to System Prefs -> More Gestures again this time select "Swipe with three" fingers. Go to any page again, click a link. Now swipe from RIGHT TO LEFT (the opposite direction) to go back and LEFT TO RIGHT to go forward. Actually I would expect the second behavior. Why it was going back with two finger swipe from right to left sometimes I can't tell. Maybe the algorithm tracked the movement not right? I was definitely always trying to swipe from right to left with two fingers all the time and sometimes it works.
I also just installed Firefox so I can't say if this was ever different in behavior.
Isn't this the same as bug 927702?
(In reply to Dirkjan Ochtman (:djc) from comment #8) > Isn't this the same as bug 927702? This bug claims that two finger swipes don't work whereas bug 927702 refers to the fact that scrolling sometimes doesn't work anymore after performing a two finger swipe, so different issues. (In reply to DarsVaeda from comment #6) > Go to any page, go to another page by clicking a link and swipe with two > fingers from LEFT TO RIGHT! Now it goes back. Swipe from RIGHT TO LEFT to go > forward. This is the correct behavior. This will become more obvious once we have history swipe animations enabled by default (bug 860493).
