Not asked for default search activity provider on swipe up (Google Now Launcher); unable to set a launcher default

Currently, on install of Nightly (08/13) and after installation, one is not prompted with a default search activity provider on swipe up of the home button to access Google Now (previously prompted with selecting Google Now or Nightly Search).
Thus, there is no prompt to set the default.
There are no defaults set in my Google Now Launcher (v 1.1.0.1) to clear.

The above was filed against my Nexus 5 (Android 4.4.4). To re-test this bug, uninstall Nightly and re-install. After installation, swipe up on the device home-button and you will not be prompted.

Ensure that Google Now Launcher & Google Search from Google Play are up to date to match my environment.

I had Google Search defaults to clear (was set to always) instead of looking at Google Now Launcher's defaults.
