From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.5) Gecko/20011012 BuildID: 2001101202 Preferences Toolbar, Sidebar, Mail Toolbars are not preserved after quittign and restarting. Toolbar icons (home, bookmarks, print, go, search, etc.) deselected in Preferences appear again after restarting. To successfully deselect the icons, one must go to preferences select (the items are still unselected in the preferences dialogue) the items, close preferences, then again deselect items. These selections will not be respected on restart. Mail & News windows selections on displaying unread/total in the (left) accounts dialogue and items to be displayed in the (right) message pane are not preserved after restart. Sidebar is displayed on restart regardless of display state when application was quit. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.deselect toolbar or sidebar 2.quit 3.restart 4.they're back... Actual Results: preferences are not preserved on restart Expected Results: preferences should be preserved on restart

James, were you seeing this on Linux? The behavior in the bugs I mentioned has been seen on Mac OSX only.
This is on a Linux build, yes. 2.4.12-ac3 if it's relevant with debian testing/unstable. Locale is euc_jp. Thanks.

I confirm on linux (build 200102006) but only for the toolbar icons. I was able to disable the sidebar and I do not use the mail. As far as I remember, the same build was working fine until I removed my ~/.mozilla directory and let mozilla regenerate it from scratch.
Regarding toolbar prefs not being saved across or within browser sessions: can't reproduce this on a current mozilla trunk linux build. Try using a new profile and reopen the bug with additional conditions/steps if the problem persists.
