Middle clicking on a Logitech TrackMan Marble Wheel does not open a link in a
new {window/tab} under Mac OS X. the Mouse wheel is supported.

Build: 2001102205 Bundle build.
dup of bug 105995?
It doesn't do anything if tabs are on or off. Command clicking on a link opens
it in either a new window or a new tab, depending on your settings, but the
middle button does not do that.
Summary: Middle click does not work on Mac OSx → Middle click on links does not work on Mac OS X
Have you set

user_pref("middlemouse.openNewWindow", true);

? It defaults to false on the Mac (including OSX).
Dup of bug 106159, methinks
Oops didn't realise this pref existed. I'll test it tonight
Re dupe of bug 106159: possibly, As I said, I'd never tried the middle click
preference, but I never rememberd it working under OSX

Re the middle click preference: I tried it, but it didn't work, probably becasue
of 106159.

Marking it as a dupe, and will re-open once the other bug is fixed if this still
doesn't work.

Re-Opening, Middle clicking on a link in OSX still does not do anyhting. build:
2001110108 bundled version. the pref is set to true (by default) (confirmed with
about:config).

this happens with and without tab browsing

status to NEW since the pref is not helping (and we now have multiple reports).
 pinkerton? Any ideas?

Ever confirmed: true
there is no support in carbon for a middle mouse button. i'm not even sure how
to trap this in the widget library.
not an apps bug, -> pink

does this work in IE?

Wish I still had a 3 button mouse to try this with (I should be getting a new
one shortly). The funny thing is Mozilla works fine if you 'emulate' a 3
button mouse with Cmd-Click.

So, on every link I Cmd-Click on, it goes ahead and opens it in a new tab
(or Window) - So does IE. So *something* is being trapped.

in my cube i've got a Kensington Optical Pro mouse hooked to my 10.1.1 box
--which in addition to have a gazillion buttons (okay, just 4), has a mousewheel
that's clickable.

under the assumption that clicking the mousewheel is the equivalent of a middle
button click, i tried the following:

a. n6, "middlemouse.openNewWindow", false [default]: middle-clicking a link only
loads the link in the current window.

b. n6, "middlemouse.openNewWindow", true: middle-clicking a link still only
loads in the current window.

c. IE5.1.3, middle-clicking a link only loads the link in the current window.
[unless there's pref for this that i didn't find.]

side note: command-clicking a link does still work to open a link in another window.

This bug can't be invalid just because middle-clicking on links in IE doesn't
open them in new windows, because IE doesn't have this feature.

Mouse).
