This has only been happening since Nightly 35 started -- about half the time when I'm trying to right-click a link that's in an etherpad, no new tab appears. IT seems to happen when I have e10s enabled and not when I don't, so I'm putting an [e10s] tag in the summary even though it might be something else in Core.

I realise this report is frustratingly vague, but it's happened enough times now that I want a record of it -- I will try to reduce down to a minimal case and add more details as I can accumulate them.

Please feel free to move this bug to a different component if Core::General isn't the right place for it.
100% reproducible for me from any link, running OSX x64 Mavericks (running 35.0a1 (2014-09-13)).
Does not happen when e10s is disabled again. Happy to help with any further info required.
happens on Fedora linux 20 too, during e10s use.
Occurs at random intervals and also when right clicking to correct a misspelled word.
Firefox 35.0a1 (2014-09-25)
I can also reproduce this 100% of the time (on Fedora). Changing summary accordingly.
Summary: [e10s] Sometimes 'Open Link in New Tab' doesn't open anything, especially from etherpads → [e10s] 'Open Link in New Tab' doesn't open anything
Adding "dogfood" keyword so this bug shows up on the e10s wiki's list of known issues:
