So, we know we need to make changes to the autocomplete controller to allow us to fix bugs (eg bug 1054914) or implement better UX. We need to figure out exactly what.

This is essentially figuring out the immediate next steps after bug 1067935, and then more longer term changes we'll need that may necessitate either a major restructuring or a rewrite.

I think until we have a plan to completely replace the controller, there's no need for this bug...
