User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 Build ID: 20140830210550 Steps to reproduce: While trying to send email to smtp.verizon.net, port 465, the pop-up shows 'Finding smtp.verizon.net' then 'Delivering mail', but then gives "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.verizon.net timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.". This has started recently; the application was sending email normally less than two weeks ago. I am an Ubuntu user, and always apply updates and patches when made available by Ubuntu; it is possible that an update caused this problem. I've tried resetting my SMTP password, without success. I am able to send a test message using telnet and openssl. See the attached file for the transcript. I've also included the troubleshooting information from Thunderbird. Actual results: See above. Expected results: Email should have been sent.
I no longer believe that SSL SMTP is the problem. I've discovered that I can send emails that I originally compose, or create a new email and cut-n-paste content from other emails into it. I cannot forward an existing email, or reply to an email I received. I'll close this ticket and open another one with these findings.
