At bug 1072740, a doorhanger for promoting the Translation feature is being implemented, to be displayed for users who are part of our translation experiments. We need to get these strings translated in their target locales, which are Vietnamese, Polish, Turkish and Spanish.

In bug 1072740 we are adding a new doorhanger to promote the translation feature. Here is a screenshot of how it looks: attachment 8499666 [details] I need the following strings translated into es-ES, es-AR, pl pt and vi: "Hey look! It's something new!" "Now the Web is even more accessible with our new in-page translation feature. Click the translate button to try it!" "Learn more." "Thanks" (note: the " characters are not part of the strings). Adding needinfo on people who provided the pl/pt/vi strings in bug 1035333. flod, we are expending the experiment of the translation feature to es-ES and es-AR, could you please loop in the relevant people to provide translations of these strings? Thanks!

Adding Ricardo for es-ES and Marcelo for es-AR. Can you provide a translation for these strings? "Hey look! It's something new!" "Now the Web is even more accessible with our new in-page translation feature. Click the translate button to try it!" "Learn more." "Thanks" They're hard-coded in product for testing the translation feature.

(In reply to Francesco Lodolo [:flod] from comment #3) > Adding Ricardo for es-ES and Marcelo for es-AR. Replying for es-ES: > "Hey look! It's something new!" ¡Mira! ¡Hay algo nuevo! > "Now the Web is even more accessible with our new in-page translation > feature. Click the translate button to try it!" I have some doubts with this, specifically with the "in-page" best word. Inma, can you help with this? There is probably a better word than "empotrada" or "incrustada". Ahora la Web es incluso más accesible con nuestra nueva funcionalidad de traducción de páginas empotrada. ¡Pulsa el botón Traducir para probarlo! > "Learn more." Más información. > "Thanks" Gracias

Thanks. Is there anyone else from the Vietnamese able to confirm if the text is good to go?

Hi, Thanks flod for the heads-up and Tai for your translation. My comments are as followed: 1. "Hey look! It's something new!" "Xem này! Có gì đó mới mẻ!" "Có gì đó" is long and doesn't actually sound natural. In Vietnamese, we don't use "gì đó" (something) unless we're actually asking question. The "something" in this sentence is like declaration. I would suggest this sentence to be translated as followed: > "Nhìn này! Đồ mới!" 2. "Now the Web is even more accessible with our new in-page translation feature. Click the translate button to try it!" "Web giờ đây có thể dễ dàng tiếp cận hơn nữa với tính năng dịch trong trang của chúng tôi. Nhấp nút dịch để thử!" Tai's translation is in passive voice. In Vietnamese, when we give introduction, it's more audience-oriented to use active voice than passive voice. "Chúng tôi" (our) is implicitly understood in almost all cases. There's no equivalent structure for "in-page translation". The rough translation is as Tai gave "dịch trong trang" doesn't indicate the ability to translate right in the page. For this phrase, I think "dịch ngay trong trang" (~ right-in-page translation) is better. Also, "nhấn" is more common than "nhấp" as the translation of "click". Thus, I'd suggest the sentence should be: > "Giờ đây chúng ta có thể tiếp cận web dễ dàng hơn nữa với tính năng dịch ngay trong trang. Hay nhấn nút dịch để thử!" 3. "Learn more." > "Tìm hiểu thêm." 4. "Thanks" > "Cảm ơn" Both 3. and 4. look good. @Tai: Thanks again for the translation. If you are interested in the Vietnamese L10n, please find more information about the project here[1], subscribe to the (low traffic) Mozilla L10n Vi mailing list[2]. Or you could also just go ahead, create an account[3] and make your contribution right away. Your help is very appreciated. Please don't hesitate to ask on the mailing list[2] or email me personally if you have any question. (In reply to Francesco Lodolo [:flod] from comment #17) > Do we a second check or are we good to close this bug? Once we know for sure that all the strings are ready, I'll attach a patch here to include them in the code, so please don't close the bug. Thanks! :-)

I think we're good to go. We can always (re-)open one and change later on if there's any more comment :-). Duong

(In reply to Duong H. Nguyen from comment #19) > I think we're good to go. We can always (re-)open one and change later on > if there's any more comment :-). Actually, in these case strings will be hard-coded for testing with a small set of locales and we're approaching deadline, so we won't have a chance to change them (unless the feature becomes part of Firefox, and we'll have these strings in product).
