I've tried changing my username and nick, etc. Nothing works. Client is Chatzilla.
If you clear the username field, does it work?
Are you putting your nickserv username in the username field, or some other username?

Yes! Clearing the username field made it work (I previously had nrc@mozilla.com)

Ah, cool.
If you want to try out auto-registering with Nickserv, some IRC clients will let you use your NickServ username and password, (not Server password, just normal Password) and that might work out. Otherwise, you're set to go.
