The top portion of the lockscreen is missing an underlay which is intended to preserve legibility when the user sets a light wallpaper. It may not look like it through the attached screenshot but on device, the time and system text practically disappear.

Just checked and on current master, we do have the black with 10% opacity underlay implemented in bug 1050052. Note that the original gradient was removed in bug 1039631.

One key usage of a mobile phone is to express yourself. A very popular way to do this is to change the lock screen picture to something personal. In my experience people choose whatever picture is important to them without any consideration on quality or how it looks combined with other screen elements. Another key mobile phone use case is as wristwatch replacement. To use the clock on lock screen as your primary time source. Both these use cases must be supported. This must be a regression. I refuse to believe that Mozilla has release SW with this problem before.
