User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 Iceweasel/33.0 Build ID: 20141018051233 Steps to reproduce: I'm using Thunderbird 31.2.0 in Debian Wheezy. I have configured an IMAP account for which the SMTP password is not saved in Thunderbird. steps: - Compose a new message ("File" -> "New" -> "Message" or Ctrl + N), insert recipient, subject and text - press Ctrl + S to save the email to the "Drafts" directory - click "Send" - two new windows open ("SMTP Password Required" and "Sending Message - <subject>") - cancel sending the message by clicking the "Cancel" button in the "Sending Message - <subject>" window; the "SMTP Password Required" windows remains open - close the "SMTP Password Required" window by clicking the "Cancel" button - A new Window appears saying: "There was an error saving the message to . Retry?" (not really saying where the message should have been saved to). At this moment, the email is no longer in the "Drafts" folder. - now, there are two possibilities: You can either click the "Cancel" button or the "OK" button Actual results: When clicking the "Cancel" button, the draft email is not saved and no longer in the "Drafts" folder, therefore it ist lost completely. When clicking the "OK" button, the message is saved in the "Sent" folder - though it has not been sent in reality. Expected results: In my opinion, the message should be preserved and not be deleted to prevent the user from losing it. Probably, it should be kept in the "Drafts" folder. It should not be moved to the "Sent" folder if it has actually not been sent.

Additional information: I'm using Xfce. Maybe this information is helpful (e.g. in case the problem might be that normally, it is not possible to focus the "Sending Message - <subject>" window while the "SMTP Password Required" window is still open).

m.weghorn, thanks for filing. This sounds well-described and should be examined.

(In reply to WADA:World Anti-bad-Duping Agency from comment #3) > Third case of Bug 780124? Let's assume so. Can always reopen if it turns out not so.
