I thought I had fixed Mozilla so I could access
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ using Mozilla, however all of a sudden
Internet Explorer rears its ugly head again. How can I stop it?

I have a problem with two sites which seemed overly dependant on cookies to
ensure I have a pleasant visit to their sites, and I am wondering if this has
something to do with it. This may also have something to do with trouble I was
having accessing Hotmail and Pisspot, sorry Passport.com and I had to erase
several cookies and change some settings.

I do not trust Micrsoft (perhaps this sounds paranoid), but it would not take
much for them to set a little thing in a cookie or whatever, to ensure IE is
used to access their sites. It was working, and now it is not
this is a dup of whatever that passport.com bug is.

I have since discovered that if the Adobe ensignia is clicked in Abode Reader 5
while viewing a pdf file online, Internet Explorer is also activated.

It would also seem I was silly enough to click on the Windows Update shortcut,
installed on my machine by Microsoft during installation. I have "peek"ed into
the relevent dll and found a reference to Internet Explorer so I daresay it
defaults to IE wenever the shortcut is clicked. This would probably be the same
for the Adobe shortcut in Adobe Reader.

However this is not the same as the Passport bug (97222).

The Passport bug was for a totally different reason but could be related to bug
108116 which I also report, and which was somehow blamed on PSM, but should, I
think, have been related to the ability to automatically reject cookies, as
Microsoft sites do not like having their cookies rejected and do not permitted
offenders in.

It is probably not worth disabling the box that allows the user to reject
cookies and have Mozilla remember that decision, thereby rejecting all future
cookies from a site.
