This issue is actually two separate issues that occur at different times. The status bar being black instead of grey begins in August. While the status bar text being blank occurs between September and October. In these cases, it is usually requested that one of the two issues be written separately. I had the reporter write bug 1094351 in order to put more emphasis on the empty status bar and think this bug should just be about the color being black.

While finding the regression window for this issue it actually began to present itself as two different issues - one being the black notification bar and the other being the notification icons disappearing. This needed separated into 2 different bugs so we are continuing the black bar here which I'm denomming in favor of the more severe issue of the icons not showing. I'll move the nom over to bug 1094351
