1. Move Developer button to Menu Panel.
2. Start the Dev tour.

Issue:
The color of the button is changed.
This issue is reproducible on Ubuntu 14.04.

Which window manager are you using? Do you have hardware acceleration enabled for it? See bug 985489 and bug bug 980220 to see if the comments there are related/relevant.

I'm using compiz and the hardware acceleration is enabled so I guess it might be related.
