Beta 34 plays the video correct and with sound

Aurora 35 plays the video with grey, horizontal artifacts (like on an old tv without correct antenna position) and without sound.

Device is an Asus Memopad 7 HD (ME173X) with PowerVR SGX 544MP
Android 4.2.2
Aurora video playback uses MediaCodec (bug 1014614).

Can you confirm wether you see the same with Nightly?

Do you see any issues playing videos on my test-page? http://people.mozilla.org/~atrain/mobile/tests/media.html
Those patches are in beta too, but I don't know if any builds have actually gone out with those applied yet. I, too, would like to hear how it does with Nightly.

Jan, could I get you to take a screenshot while playing one of the videos with the problem in Nightly? It looks like this specific device has a problem with the new video decoding backend.

In case you aren't sure how to do that, you should be able to take a screenshot by holding down both volume buttons and the power button. You can then mail it yourself from the 'gallery' (or just attach it to this bug with Firefox).
I made a screenshot, but it is not always like on the picture, so I did a youtube video too:

Summary: Android Aurora 35 fails to play videos on tagesschau.de → Android Aurora 35 fails to play videos on Asus Memopad

Looks like this is fixed in Aurora 36, I just tested on multiple sites.
Also all videos on the testsite are running OK and with sound.

But sadly the error made it into the beta 35, so I think it will go release next week with the problem?
Confirmed that this is resolved in Firefox Beta. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1042528

Do we know what fixed this or just set WFM?
