1098182 - Support saving mailto:, tel:, and sms: URIs as Homescreen bookmarks

Handling implemented in bug 793310. However, cannot save as homescreen bookmarks.

I think we need to be able to bookmark activities. So instead of bookmarking a link to mailto:dietrich, we bookmark a "open" activity for this url, with a nice icon and some text. That would be generic enough and will let 3rd party apps create new kind of bookmarks!

I think Francisco is looking at something along those lines to bookmark contacts on the homescreen.

I agree that would be cool.

However, we should still have this easy solution for basic schemes that the Web already supports.

Let's not scope-creep this bug into Activities (not standard) or future nice-to-haves.

noticing some weird stuff where the [done] button in bookmark UI is disabled, need to investigate.

right, it's a feature that we are adding in 2.2, we already contacted Gregor and Kevin to do this, and Fernando Jimenez will be on charge of making this happen :)

I think we can make this bug duplicated of bug 1097768

(There are some specs and visual concepts on that bug)

I am afraid that my proposal doesn't fulfill the requirements of this issue anymore, so it shouldn't be closed as dup of bug 1097768.

I am not saying that we shouldn't allow bookmarking activities. But I am afraid that just with that we cannot address the requirements of the contact bookmarks spec.
