It appears that e10s isn't working with Win XP SP2 x64 (fully updated on VMware). When you initially install m-c on Win XP SP2 x64, the two tabs appear completely blank. When you try two switch to either one, you'll receive the spinning loading icon but the tab/website will never complete loading.

Once you close and re-open fx from the initial install, none of the websites will load with e10s enabled. After trying to load any website, the tab will appear completely blank and there's no indication that anything is happening. When you either click on the page or try to switch tabs, you'll get the spinning icon once again but nothing will load in the end.

I tried this on Win XP SP3 x86 quickly (2-3 installs on VMware) and it appears to work correctly. I attached two screenshots to illustrate the issue. Apologies if there's a duplicate! (I tried searching and for "e10s win xp" but couldn't find anything relating to this)

Used the following build:

I vaguely recall this being a trade-off we were making. Mike, can you comment?

Unaware of any e10s-related tradeoffs between x86 and x64.

The spinner is being displayed because the content process is not responding. I'd be interested in finding out why that would be.

I meant SP2 and 64-bit and/or e10s.

Although, thinking about it, that would be 64-bit Firefox - which would presumably fail to launch entirely, also in the e10s case, and so if this is 32-bit, that puts this back in the "why doesn't e10s work on SP2" question which is why I originally needinfo'd you. :-)
So we're clear, you're attempting to run 32-bit Nightly on your 64-bit VM?

This sounds like a gfx problem with omtc, layers, and e10s.

Yup, that's correct. Just tried it again to double check and ran into the same thing using:

I am finally able to reproduce this on the nightly build in comment 8 and also today's nightly. Using WinXP SP2 64-bit inside VMware Fusion on my MBP, and the 32-bit build of Nightly.

Is it possible to find out what % of our users are on XP 64-bit?

I was looking athttps://dataviz.mozilla.org/views/PlatformVersionFirefoxADI/WindowsDetails#2 but I couldn't find a way to separate 32 vs 64bit for Windows XP, but I feel like there must be a way to find that out.

We don't have that information in the ADI ping. It's in the update ping and in FHR, though.
In case it matters, 64-bit XP is actually built from the Server 2003 codebase. I *think* it reports version 5.2.3790, you can check this by running winver.

according to stats we have a little under 1 million users on 64-bit XP.
Reproduced the issue using the original builds from comment # 0 and comment # 8 but I couldn't reproduce the issue with the latest nightly:

Seems like it's working now. I downloaded the above build and nightly loaded the two initial tabs without any problems while in using e10s:
- https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/firstrun/ (loaded without any issues after installation)
- about:home (loaded without any issues after installation)

I also loaded the following websites without any problems while using e10s:
- facebook, twitter, linkedin, bugzilla, mlssoccer, premierleague, google, duckduckgo, yahoo

I also took a look at Win x86 SP3 and made sure that was working as well. Going to mark this as Resolved/Invalid for the time being. I'll keep checking every few weeks to make sure nightly is still working with Win XP and nothing has regressed.
