The add-on file upload form is becoming far too noisy. We added new elements to make it more likely that developers would take note of important issues, but unfortunately I suspect that clutter is probably having the opposite effect. Ideally, a UX designer should take a look at this process and figure out how to improve it. Failing that, I think that we need to do the following: • Split the submission flow into multiple steps. • First step contains only a file upload form. When the upload completes, move directly to the second step. • The second step contains a link to validation results, with important messages highlighted. » If validation has not failed, it contains two buttons, one to upload sources and continue to the next step, one just to continue. » If validation has failed, and the user is a senior reviewer or above, it provides the option to override validation and continue as above. » If validation has failed, and the user is not a senior reviewer, it only provides the option to exit. • The third step contains the options currently in the main form, including platform, app, and beta channel selection.
