The tabs tray looks like a ViewPager (like home panels) so swiping left/right should switch between types of tabs.

(May be in the v2 though?)

Yeah, let's v2 this one.

Note that this does not apply to phones because it conflicts with the swipe-to-close-tab gesture.

iirc, the tabs tray is currently uses a single instance so this bug would require rewriting the tabs tray into two separate instances so that animation between them can occur.

The fact that tabs on mobile are swiped closed horizontally would makes this unintuitive.
