The quicksearch bar seems great, but it forces off threaded view. It also re-sorts my views the opposite way. Normally I have new messages appearing at the top and threaded mode enabled. After typing stuff in the quicksearch bar, it becomes non-threaded with new messages at the bottom. It does restore itself when I remove the search words though. It would be cool if using quicksearch in threaded mode displayed Threads that matched the search criteria. Maybe highlighting the messages that caused the thread to be visible. It would also be nice if the searchbar didn't make new items appear at the bottom, when they currently display at the top. I've noticed this on Mozilla 0.9.6 on Windows 2000 although I doubt it is a platform specific issue.
Performing similar operations when reading news will corrupt threading. To repeat the situation: - set newsreader as Unread/Threaded. You should see correctly threaded headers. - Use quicksearch bar. Threading dissappears, but this is OK for me. - Clear text field on quicksearch bar. You are supposed to see same threading as it was originally, but actually whole threading is corrupted. Hard to describe what exactly happens, I'll try to attach a screenshot. I am using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.6) Gecko/20011120.
Screenshot added.
The threading issue for 3-pane search results is being carried on in bug 106712 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 106712 ***
