Release Bugzilla 5
.0rc1, 4 .4 .7, 4 .2 .12, and 4 .0 .16
This is the tracking bug for the upcoming Release Bugzilla 5.0rc1, 4.4.7, 4.2.12 and 4.0.16 releases. All releases have one or more security fixes included.
Don't forget the new documentation checked in in bug 1070135 - we should update and use that for upgraders. Gerv
Just realizing (not having done a new major release notes before) this will take quite a bit for me to come up with from scratch it seems. I will work on this tomorrow unless someone wants to step up and help (LpSolit or Gerv?). LpSolit, as someone who has done this in the past, is it mostly looking for all bugs which have keyword 'relnote' and milestone '5.0'? Then taking those and creating a high level description of the new features and changes and them listing the other lesser fixes for both users and administrators? Thanks dkl

Very busy with my job. > LpSolit, as someone who has done this in the past, is it mostly looking for > all bugs which have keyword 'relnote' and milestone '5.0'? Yes, though you should look at all bugs with the 'relnote' keyword, not just those limited to the 5.0 milestone, in case something important has been backported (and so the milestone would be 4.x). I also quickly look at other bugs committed since we branched to make sure we didn't miss something important. mkanat and I were good at adding the 'relnote' keyword when a bug was checked in and was relevant for the relnotes. This way, we didn't really need to look at other bugs as our list was already pretty complete. I don't know if you and glob paid attention to this during this development cycle. If not, this is going to take you some time to go through the whole list. :)

Comment on attachment 8551452 [details] [diff] [review] website_updates_50rc1_2.patch >Index: src/download/index.html On this page, there is a link in the RC section pointing to http://www-stage.bugzilla.org/releases/5.0/release-notes.html#v50_feat, but the target is now #feat. In the same section, the link to http://www-stage.bugzilla.org/releases/5.0/ still points to 4.5.5. Looks like this page hasn't been updated. >Index: src/releases/4.0.16/release-notes.html >+<strong>Notice:</strong> Due to a recent <a href="http://bugzillaupdate.wordpress.com/2014/08/27/landfill-bugzilla-org-disclosure/">data disclosure</a> all current passwords have been reset and will require a new password to be set the next time this site is accessed. To do so, click the "Forgot Password" link at the top. >+ >+<h1>Bugzilla 4.0 Release Notes</h1> This should go away. The Notice is about landfill and has nothing to do here. Also, the title is duplicated (recurrent bug). Same problem with release notes for 4.2 and 4.4. About 5.0, two fixes on checkin have been committed upstream, but are not on www-stage. I guess this will automatically be fixed when the website is pushed to bugzilla.org? >Index: src/security/index.html >+ <li><a href="4.0.14/">[2015-01-20] Security advisory for versions >+ prior to 4.0.16, 4.2.12, 4.4.7, and 5.0rc1</a></li> The URL must point to 4.0.15, not 4.0.14. r=LpSolit with these fixes on checkin.
