Details
When clicking and holding for approximately 1.2 seconds (333Mhz G3)
on either 2 of the forward of backward history buttons or the pull down
fields
on the upper left side of the navigator window, text entry
is ignored in both entry fields on page and address bar.
Text can be copied, cut, highlighted, but not pasted when bug is
manifested.
The pull down histories also appears to be redrawn (blinks) when
this occurs.
When no pages are selected the history menu will stay open while also
preventing all text entry in window
Work around:
1) click only once on history buttons
2) click twice on the appropriate pull down history button which
caused the text entries being ignored.
3) close offending window

Does this still happen in a current version?

Not sure what the dup is offhand, but I'll confirm this for now.
1. Browse some history into the Back button
2. Click and hold the back button until the pop-up menu appears
3. Move the pointer off the back button and release the mouse button
Actual behavior: pop-up menu remains; URL bar text can be selected, but typing is refused
Expected behavior: pop-up menu should be dismissed on mouseup.

significantly improved, with several seconds required to invoke the bug. The
popup menu now freezes open, with everything returning to normal when the
appropriate pop-up button is selected only once again.
If another window is selected the original pop-up window will still be present,
covering the new window. Closing the window with the frozen popup is not
possible.
This bug does appear to exist in 10.1.5

The pop-up remains open until you either select it, click on the drop-down or
click outside it. Also, selecting another window will make the history pop-up
disappear. So, entering text in the Location Bar is possible if you select it
with your mouse. Not sure what is left here, but keyboard input is disabled
while the pop-up is open.

on linux, the dropdown menu has keyboard focus. You can select the entry you
want with up/down. But if I want to type in the location bar, I can click on
the location bar and the menu goes away.

Resolving as wfm. The problems originally reported seems gone. The "real" mac
issue (related to this) is covered by bug 102330.

Sorry, now I see this. If you press the drop-down button a sec or so and then
release, the menu will stay open and you won't be able to enter/editing text in
the url bar. If you, for instance, switch to another tab the menu is still there.
