Using DAILY 38.0a1 (2015-02-20) Please allow to send an unread message directly from the MessageList to the main browser. Three reasons: (a) There are cases that just do not render well in TB; FF rendering significantly more robust. (b) The last time I looked, the security in FF, especially with things like AdBlock and NoScript active, is much more robust -- malicious stuff is more likely to be detected and disarmed. (c) [And, finally] Often, I know in advance that a message is simply going to direct me to a web page. One less step if I send the message to the browser directly. Even if the message winds up not being good html, the browser will do no worse than render it as text.

Summary: [RFE] Add "Open Message in Browser" to message-list context menu, without message window → Add "Open Message in Browser" to message-list context menu, without message window
"Even if the message winds up not being good html, the browser will do no worse than render it as text." That's actually not true. Thunderbird html rendering has JS hard disabled, opening in a browser directly would expose users to JS in the message for the vast majority of users that do not have NoScript activated. Thunderbird uses the same rendering as Firefox, so the only reason that something would not render correctly in TB but would in FF is if security restrictions put in place by TB are not enabled by the browser. (Messages put "render in browser" links because most other email clients do not have the sophisticated rendering of TB). So I think that the premise of this is incorrect, there are serious security issues, and WONTFIX is the best resolution.
