Same problem here. It all started when I updated to Firefox 36. I'm using a Geforce GTX 570 with the latest driver (347.52), my OS is Windows 8.1 x64. Here are two screenshots that illustrate this problem: http://i.imgur.com/X5DrEnJ.png http://i.imgur.com/FzxqWBe.png This always happens in tabs that I haven't used for a few minutes. Sometimes reloading the page helps, but most of the times this won't work. Could this be related to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1137082?
Have same issue too. Hardware acceleration enabled. https://imgur.com/WbhFAIT https://imgur.com/QonztpZ Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0 Graphics: Аппаратно ускоренные окна 1/1 Direct3D 11 (OMTC) Версия драйвера 9.18.13.4144 Визуализатор WebGL Google Inc. -- ANGLE (NVIDIA GeForce 210 Direct3D9Ex vs_3_0 ps_3_0) Дата разработки драйвера 2-3-2015 Драйвера видеокарты nvd3dum nvwgf2um,nvwgf2um Код подсистемы 00000000 Код производителя 0x10de Код устройства 0x0a65 Объём видеопамяти 512 Описание видеокарты NVIDIA GeForce 210 Direct2D включён true DirectWrite включён true (6.3.9600.17415) GPU #2 активен false windowLayerManagerRemote true AzureCanvasBackend direct2d AzureContentBackend direct2d AzureFallbackCanvasBackend cairo AzureSkiaAccelerated 0 I disabled layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled The number of black bars greatly reduced, but not lost. In Firefox 35 hardware acceleration work fine, but in one of previous version (around 32 version) i aslo disable the parameter specified above.
As above, I also have now started having this issue with Firefox 36. Sometimes the images will load, but after leaving the tab for a while and coming back, they will have partially- or fully-blackened out. http://i.imgur.com/wS8U91m.png Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600) (9600.winblue_r7.150109-2022) Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GHz Memory: 16384MB RAM Available OS Memory: 16292MB RAM User DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce GTX 780 Ti DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Driver Name: nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvd3dum,nvwgf2um,nvwgf2um Driver File Version: 9.18.0013.4725 (English) Driver Version: 9.18.13.4725 DDI Version: 11 Feature Levels: 11.0,10.1,10.0,9.3,9.2,9.1 Driver Model: WDDM 1.3
Same issue, but I have it longer I guess since FF 33/34. Tried 3 different Nvidia Drivers. Got the Geforce GTX 760. Win 8 x64. DPI 100%(normal), latest FF release 36.0.1. Why is the "Status: UNCONFIRMED" ? This is a major bug.

Important to know: A clean reinstall / clean new profile without any addons doesn't change a thing.

This might be related to bug 1137251. Does this still occur with the same frequency? I have gotten behavior like this generally when memory is low. (Failures to allocate buffers for rasterization, perhaps) Not sure if that's at play here. Let's make sure :bas knows about this.

I notice it too. Win8.1 x64, GTX 770, memory is not low, happens with old nvidia drivers too.

Yeah, noticed the same problem after upgrading to v36. Resetting profiles, clean install, no add-ons, upgrading graphics driver (Nvidia) etc. have no effect. Seems to happen if you leave a tab with images open for a while and then go back to it. Relatively easy to reproduce if you do a Google image search, scroll a couple of pages down, leave that tab open for a few minutes and then start scrolling on that page. You are likely to see some images are just solid black. Example: http://i.imgur.com/Eb4txoX.jpg I've also noticed that smaller images sometimes disappear altogether.

Nothing changed in the new release 36.0.4.

Same issue here, images will randomly go to all black after loading. In most cases the image will flicker after loaded, then go straight to black. You can refresh the image a ton and maybe get it to return after 10-15 reloads. Opening the image in a new tab also produces a black fill where the image should be. Firefox 37.02 Win 8.1 Nvidia GPU I've seen this issue since probably v33. This is not reproducible in chrome or ie.

Sorry, Firefox is unmanageable and un-productive. I do not plan on supporting this product any longer, and don't have firefox installed so cannot help. I will unsubscribe from this list. Thanks.

I haven't had this problem in the latest release or even last few releases. As far as I'm concerned this is fixed. Thank you.
