RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 604377

People

(Reporter: peter.reynolds, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/41.0.2272.53 Safari/537.36 OPR/28.0.1750.31 (Edition beta)

Steps to reproduce:

I used Quick Filter (lots of times over a period, on various versions of Thunderbird).

Actual results:

I had to enter my search term first.

Thunderbird never defaults to the field I searched for last in any particular folder. Usually (but not always) in my case this is "Recipients" for "Sent" or "Drafts" and "Sender" for any other folder. Therefore it is important that there should be a separate memory for "Sent" and "Drafts" which are OUTGOING messages to that used for all other folders which are normally INCOMING messages.

Expected results:

When I search "Sent" or "Drafts" I would like to default to "Recipients" (or at least remember that this has been my default behaviour for this folder in the past).

When I search all other folders I would like to default to "Sender" (or at least remember that this has been my default behaviour for any particular folder in the past).

I would also prefer to be able to choose "Sender", "Recipients" etc BEFORE I enter what I am searching for!
