Is this possible?
this change requires development work to implement, although we're probably better off putting time against bug 579089 and baking the ability for per-product defaults into that work.

Since this isn't possible, how bad would it be to collapse iOS 3..iOS 8 into a single iOS entry? I see no reason to differentiate, since the only current iOS project that I am aware of (Firefox for iOS) is targetting iOS 8+. I suppose we could lose old data, but I question the value of that data. If we really needed to, perhaps tickets that lost that data could have a migration comment added.

because the platform list is bugzilla-wide that may be tricky to coordinate, but it's worth doing. because these values can be disabled, we _can_ collapse all ios values into a single one without impacting old bugs.

i think even with bug 579089 fixed this is a good idea; would it be possible for you to file a new bug for that discussion please?

bug 1042095 added a generic iOS op-sys, and disabled iOS 3 through 6.
bug 579089 is now fixed, i've changed the default platform for firefos/ios to ios.

Thanks glob! I'm pretty thrilled that this is easier now. Firefox for iOS team thanks you (and anyone else involved).
