User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 Build ID: 20150217104802 Steps to reproduce: Some time i receve some emails with URL htt or https who are not clickable, that i presume is because there is not HTML link set. Actual results: Some emails arrive with URL who are not clickable, i must select them, copy and paste into browser, all time. Expected results: URL clickable also if there are an address http or https without the URL set in HTML.
We already do that. You'll have to give an explicit example
Ok, i have an email where URL is not clickable. I have an help desk and when it sends email in Thunderbird URL are not clickable. Can i send this email or i don't know how to show the issue. Maybe i can make a video or some what else, let me know. Thanks
Or maybe if you got on my website and opened a ticket the email you receve have a not clickable URL https:// etc is not clickable with Thunderbird. I don't know if i can post here the link of the help desk or maybe is more easy attach the email file.
Save the message as file (.eml) and attach it to this bug
Ah yes, the link is in the html part. We only autolink for the plain text part - in html it's assumed the sender created a link if it wanted a link. (As you can see, it's clickable if you choose View | Message Body As | Plain text)
Summary: make URL clickable → autolink urls inside html content
I think it would be reasonable to do like Firefox and let you open a non-<a> URL in HTML by right-clicking, but it shouldn't just auto-linkify it.
Why not?
If i see this email on gmail web browser link is clickable, in other email client link is clicable, only on Thunderbird i can see this issue. The ticket system when send emails have a tag so i can't put in the html code the code link.. so i think link should be auto-linkify also in HTML emails. If not , why not?
(In reply to Marco from comment #8) > Why not? If the author of an HTML message wanted a URL to be clickable, they would have done so. It's not our place to override the author's intent. It's perfectly reasonable for an author to send an HTML message with a non-clickable URL, whether it be for security reasons (e.g. informing someone about a malicious link) or for links that don't actually go anywhere (e.g. http://www.example.com/). If your ticket system doesn't linkify URLs in HTML bodies properly, then your ticket system should be fixed. There's nothing preventing it from scanning the relevant parts of the message body and adding <a> tags as appropriate.

Marco, I hid your attachment so that it is not accessible to the public. If you want to hide your email address, you can edit that in your Bugzilla profile.
