RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 100393

Details

From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:0.9.6) Gecko/20011120
BuildID: 2001112009

I am running Mozilla 0.9.6 Build ID: 2001112009 on Windows XP Professional.

I am getting these errors when I go to the "about plugins" menu on the Help menu:

The procedure entry point ?ToNewCString@nsString@@QBEPADXZ could not be located
in the dynamic link library xpcom.dll.
The procedure entry point ?ToNewUnicode@nsString@@QVEPAGXZ could not be located
in the dynamic link library xpcom.dll.

Also, I have installed the Java 2 runtime environment about 100 times now and it
STILL does not work with Mozilla at all. The DLL is in the plugins directory,
and in "about plugins" it shows up as being enabled, but no java applet loads in
the browser. This problem also manifests itself in Windows 2000 on my work
machine. The xpcom.dll error has popped up on that OS as well, sometimes during
the loading of the quicklaunch utility and when I use "about plugins". It seems
that it only happens AFTER I install the Java 2 Runtime Environment, as that
before I installed it all was fine.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use Windows XP or Windows 2000 and install Mozilla > 0.9.3 and select allowing
the quick launch utility to run at startup.
2.Install Sun's Java 2 runtime environment 1.3.1
3.Start browser, select "about plugins" from Help menu.

Actual Results: Quick launch crashes with xpcom.dll errors as well as when you
select "about plugins" from the help menu, also no java applets will load.

Expected Results: Loading the quick launcher with no errors, loading java
applets after Java Runtime Environment is installed.

There are three bugs here. The two first because old version haven't been
uninstalled before installing a new build:

bug 108515 ?ToNewCString@nsString@@QBEPADXZ (by way of bug 111409)
bug 108515 ?ToNewUnicode@nsString@@QBEPAGXZ

The third bug, Java seemingly not installing, is dup of bug 100393.
See comments there for which dll's to copy to the plugin dir.
If you upgrade from an older version of Java, you probably also need to remove
the old dll's before the new will work.

Resolving as dup of the last bug, since that is what summary here is about.
