1155967 - When replying to message from sender with Hebrew display name, addressbook changes display name of existing contact with English display name (and same email address) to Hebrew

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/42.0.2311.90 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

In Thunderbird 31.6.0 running on Win7-64, 
when I reply to a message , where the original sender provided name data in addition to an Email address, 
This happens when the name is in Hebrew (i.e. איל)
						


Actual results:

the names details in the addressbook are changed automatically to what the writer provided (in Hebrew), even if the contact was already in my Address book (with English names).


Expected results:

the names details in my addressbook should preserve their values or at least prompt the user before changeing

If i understand you correctly, that is not specific to hebrew. (And DUPEME)

According to my observation it happens only when the senders' provided names are in Hebrew.
In Safe Mode  and without the BiDi support, it does not happen.
But Hebrew is a must...:)
Is there a way to tweak the configs to prevent this phenomena?

Does it really CHANGE the name of an EXISTING contact (don't think so), or does it create a NEW contact with the Hebrew name, because of auto-adding addresses to "Collected Addresses" AB when sending?
