Currently quitter@mozilla.org.xpi has its minimum and maximum version set to the exact version of the build where it was produced. This restricts its usefulness for the average developer or tool developer. In addition, the upcoming restrictions on only allowing signed add ons to run in official builds, makes it more difficult to use quitter@mozilla.org.xpi in generic tests outside of our official test infrastructure. I would like to do either a) or b) or both: a) set the minimum and maximum values to arbitrary values which would allow quitter@mozilla.org.xpi to be used in any version. I had been using a slightly modified version of Jesse's quitter@squarefree.com for several years which used 2-99 without any ill-effect. b) submit a version of quitter@mozilla.org.xpi with the relaxed minimum/maximum versions to add-ons for signing and check the signed version into the tree or put it on ftp.mozilla.org where it would be accessible to anyone who needed it. Thoughts?

Related: bug 1393162. I don't think we should do this now, I think automation that wants to quit the browser should just use Marionette.
